Because There’s No Quittin’ for Strong Women and the Men Who Really Love Us

February 03, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Category: Uncategorized

CNN is reporting that the Susan G. Komen Foundation is reversing its decision on Planned Parenthood.

Well done, my friends, well done.

And a special thank you to Cecile Richards for being a class act throughout this entire ordeal.  She made Texas women Texas proud.

Rush Limbaugh was ranting about the “femi-nazis” getting Komen to reverse their stand. I think our next donations to Planned Parenthood should be in his honor – and I will designate mine to be used to fund abortions.

  2. Barbin DC,
Nancy Brinker was the Protocol Chief from 2007 until January 29, 2009. Thanks for the link, Karen H.

  3. @KarenH: You are correct. I seem to recall that the Obamas stayed in a hotel (the Jefferson or the Hay-Adams??). Thanks for the memory jog. We were all so damn giddy back then, that nothing could harsh our mood. The Bushes were putzes to the end. However, Sidwell Friends would have done anything to accomodate the Obama girls. That still stands.

  4. I am so proud of all the women and men who spoke up about this..just shows what we CAN do!!

  5. BarbinDC,
Sorry I was not clear. I did not mean anything about the children and school. The kids were enrolled. The family just needed to be in DC for the start of the semester. That is when Brinker said no to an early stay.
I have family friends who attended that school and a grandson who spent every summer at F&W so it is understood that the school would have bent over backwards to accommodate the needs of the family. There was nothing at Blair House but some end of Bush Era parties.

Please remember the Pink Ribbon is not owned by Komen. I bought Morton Salt yesterday, It had a pink ribbon on it. OH NO I can’t buy that…..
Checked the label the money was going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

    Komen’s ribbon is different

I have never supported Komen. It smelled top heavy and advertising heavy to me from the get go. And, although I like my tatas, colon cancer is far more likely in my family, so I support broader-based research. Heart disease is a big killer of women too. We are not just child-bearing machines with secondary sex characteristics! And we are not like men with specialized parts, either, our bodies and hormones have a completely different synergy than theirs – GO for the Planned Parenthood support, they do so much for young women and poverty-stricken women of any age, and they are great about referrals too. And if the Rethugs have their way we will have to fund them privately anyway, better get used to it }:#
